The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) launched a poll on the Public Consultation Platform "Istitlaa” to get public feedback and suggestions on the draft amendment to Article 27 regarding the executive regulations of the Labor Law. The poll runs from Jan. 17 to Feb. 1.

The amendment to the Article 27/2 of the executive regulations of the Labor Law aims to develop the flexible work system by improving several aspects, the most important of which is allowing workers in this mode to work more than 95 hours per month and improving the Nitaqat calculations to become one point.

According to the draft amendment, flexible work contracts are only available to Saudis, and the percentage of employees working for the employer is subject to flexible work system contracts (determined by the ministry in the electronic portal).

The draft amendment also stated that the employer is not required to compensate the worker on a flexible work contract (for all types of paid leave, including annual leave, event leave, and sick leave), nor is the employer required to compensate the worker with an end-of-service bonus.

In addition, the amendment will increase job opportunities and raise the employment rate of both male and female citizens through a flexible contractual tool that meets labor market needs while protecting the rights of all parties, according to the HRSD Ministry.
