SDB collects operating fees for offered services, no interest charged: CEO

CEO Ibrahim bin Hamad  Alrashid

The Social Development Bank (SDB) does not charge interest from customers, but rather collects operating fees on its offered services, said CEO Ibrahim Alrashid.

Speaking to CNBC Arabia, the top executive indicated that a sustainable plan was approved in 2019, which focuses on primarily generating revenues from investments and treasury operations, and secondly from operating fees for the bank’s services.

He pointed out that the bank registered record treasury revenues of about SAR 2 billion in 2023, an increase of 14% year-on-year. It also generated operating fees of around SAR 500 million from customer services.

Since 2019, the bank has seen continuous growth, said bin Rashid, adding that these revenues help expand annually and cover credit losses in case of overdue debts.
