Saudi Arabia, UAE, 3 others reaffirm intent to join BRICS: Report

Five of the six countries invited to join the BRICS bloc of developing nations have confirmed joining, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor was cited by Reuters as saying today, Jan. 31.

 

The five countries are Saudi Arabia, UAE, Ethiopia, Iran and Egypt, the minister said.

 

BRICS officially agreed to invite Saudi Arabia, among other countries, to join the bloc, according to data available with Argaam.

 

It was established in 2009 with the participation of China, Brazil, India, and Russia, with South Africa joining in 2010.
