Saudi Arabia's Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) recently initiated several criminal cases. Legal procedures against the accused are underway.

Among 20 cases, Nazaha said, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, a former head of notary was arrested for seizing vast areas of land belonging to the state by registering them in the name of his brother who was also arrested. They obtained SAR 148 million from the sale of the land plots. In addition, a former judge was detained for receiving SAR 10.25 million, and other two employees in the same department were arrested for receiving SAR 5 million for their cooperation with the head of notary in issuing deeds for such land plots.

A former employee in one of the municipalities was arrested for receiving SAR 63 million from three commercial entities belonging to his acquaintances in exchange for issuing 299 illegal supply authorizations to those entities at more than SAR 171 million.

The head of a notary in one of the regions was arrested for using forged documents with the help of an employee in the secretariat of the same region who was also detained for seizing three plots of land and selling them to citizens for SAR 1.22 million.

An employee in one of the municipalities was arrested for exploiting a commercial entity belonging to one of his relatives and illegally awarding 16 projects from the same municipality to the entity.

Nazaha will continue to apply the law, with zero-tolerance against corruption.
