Linking industrial cities to train network will boost logistics ops: Alkhorayef

Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources

Linking the industrial cities in Riyadh and Eastern Province to the train network will contribute to boosting the efficiency of logistics operations in the industrial sector, said Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef.

He added that this will also open new opportunities for trade and export.

The memorandums of understanding signed between the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) and the Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), with the support of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), aim to enhance integration and partnership between the industrial and transportation systems, the minister said.

He added that the move also aims to empower the industrial sector’s supply chains in the Central and Eastern Provinces, and support supply chains with global standards.

In addition, it seeks to strengthen trade lines and logistics operations, as well as increase the benefit achieved from industrial facilities in Jubail Industrial City and factories in Dammam 2nd Industrial City that depend on SABIC products and steel products in Jubail.
