POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled approximately SAR 11.87 billion for the week ended Feb. 10, compared to SAR 14.33 billion in the previous week.
Data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that total POS transactions amounted to around 188.31 million for the week.
POS transactions represent consumer expenditures through debit and credit cards at major shopping centers, retail outlets, pharmacies, and others.

During the week, all sectors witnessed a decline, led by the telecommunications sector by 27%. The education and food and beverage (F&B) sectors following with a 25% and 24% decline, respectively.
Consumer spending was focused on the F&B sector, totaling SAR 1.86 billion during the week. The restaurants and cafes sector trailed with total POS transactions worth SAR 1.82 billion, as follows:

Riyadh led in terms of POS value during the week with approximately SAR 4.05 billion, representing 34.1% of the total. Jeddah came in second with SAR 1.71 billion, as follows:
