Authorities seized five business entity-owned petrol stations in Jubail and Riyadh for installing devices that change the quantities of fuel sold, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.

The action was carried out by Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Commerce, along with Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), under the supervision of the Permanent Executive Committee for Service Centers and Gas Stations.

In a statement, the Ministry of Energy said that after monitoring and tracking the said stations and their violations of the measurement and calibration system and the anti-commercial fraud system, the authorities closed all the pumps at these stations.

Legal procedures are now being completed against the businesses and their staff, ahead of referring them to the Public Prosecution, the statement added.

The Permanent Executive Committee confirmed that it will continue its comprehensive round-the-clock monitoring campaigns, with the participation of all relevant parties.

The aim is to ensure the quality of all petroleum products and services provided in service centers and gas stations, and ensure the adherence to the required requirements, as part of the committee’s efforts to advance the sector and raise the quality of the services provided.
