Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled approximately SAR 14.03 billion for the week ended March 30, up from SAR 11.46 billion in the previous week.

The number of POS transactions reached about 174.06 million last week, according to data issued by SAMA.
POS transactions represent consumer expenditures through debit and credit cards at major shopping centers, retail outlets, pharmacies, and others.

During the week, all sectors saw an increase in POS except for the electronic and electric devices sector, which inched down by 0.1% week-on-week (WoW).
The clothing and footwear sector led gainers by 52% as Eid Al-Fitr approached, followed by jewelry sector at 33%, and telecommunications at 28%.
Consumer spending was focused on the food and beverage (F&B) sector, totaling SAR 2.03 billion during the week. The clothing and footwear sector trailed with total POS transactions worth SAR 1.82 billion, as follows:
