Saudi Arabia has become the preferred gateway for Chinese companies to enter the Middle East and GCC markets, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing.

Chinese and Saudi economies are highly integrated and have enormous potential for cooperation in various fields, Weiqing said. He expressed his confidence that the mutual investments between the two countries will continue to expand in the future.

China is the largest trading partner of Saudi Arabia, and the latter is the largest trading partner of China in the West Asia and North Africa region, the Ambassador said. He added that the bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded $100 billion during two consecutive years. This represents more than 35% of the total volume of trade between China and the GCC region during the same period.
