As many as 71 of the 169 goods and services in Saudi Arabia saw year-on-year (YoY) price declines. Meanwhile, prices for 95 other commodities rose, while three remained unchanged, according to data from the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Out of 92 food products, prices of local round onion recorded the biggest rise by 121.25% YoY last month, followed by imported round onion (91.97%).
On the other hand, local green bell pepper and Indian pomegranate saw the steepest declines YoY at 19.84% and 19.57%, respectively.
Meanwhile, prices of 18 construction materials increased YoY in March, while 20 products saw declines during the same month.
Prices of eight livestock and fodder products rose YoY last month, while five others fell annually.
For clothes, seven items under this category saw an increase and three saw a decrease.
Prices of three miscellaneous personal goods and services climbed YoY in March, while one fell YoY.
Prices of all detergent products increased last month compared to the same month the previous year.
Prices of two health services edged up in March, while the cost of the third service fell YoY.
Elsewhere, prices of the two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation were up in the same period.
The prices of one out of the two hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in March, while the cost of the remaining service fell.
Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY during March.
