The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) said the number of food processing plants in its cities rose to about 1,300 across the Kingdom.

The announcement came on the heels of MODON’s participation in the first edition of The Saudi Food Show 2024, scheduled to be held from April 30 to May 2, in Riyadh.

MODON continues to develop a stimulating industrial environment for the food industry sector. Sudair City for Industry and Businesses, alongside the two industrial cities in Madinah and another one in Jeddah, came as the most attractive industrial cities for manufacturing food and beverage products in 2023, according to a statement cited by the Saudi Press Agency.

The authority is working to localize the food industry by encouraging local and foreign companies to invest in its industrial cities, spreading over 13 administrative regions across the Kingdom and are distinguished by their geographical locations, proximity to service areas and means of transportation, and the availability of human resources.

This came to attract investment projects worth up to $20 billion (SAR 75 billion) in poultry, dairy and cheese derivatives, bakery and sweets, and beverages and juices segments by 2030.
