Al Gassim Investment Holding Co. (GACO) announced today, May 1, receiving a notification from the dispute resolution committee on fallow lands, dismissing the company's grievance against the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (Qassim branch) regarding its appeal for full ownership of the revived area in Buraydah.
In a statement on Tadawul, the company said it could file a grievance with the Board of Grievances within 60 days from the decision notification. It plans to take actions to claim ownership of the remaining revived land.
In May 2023, Al-Qassim Court of Appeal upheld a decision by the Administrative Court of Buraydah, rejecting the company’s lawsuit against the ministry’s Qassim branch to claim ownership of the remaining revived area, according to data compiled by Argaam.
In April 2023, the Supreme Administrative Court accepted the ministry's objection and annulled the Court of Appeal’s decision, sending it back for further review.
In December 2020, the company filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Environment’s branch, moving the Administrative Court in Buraydah to cancel the ministry's decision about abstention from referring GACO’s request to King Salman for ownership of the full area of land cultivated thereby.
In June 2020, a royal order was issued, allowing GACO to own a 74.04 million-square-meter land plot out of the total area granted thereto in Shari, Qassim.
