Saudia announces largest Airbus deal of 105 aircraft

Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia

Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), announced the largest deal in the country’s aviation history with Airbus for 105 aircraft.

Saudi Arabia will receive 54 A321neo aircraft, while Flyadeal will take delivery of 12 A320neo and 39 A321neo aircraft.

The order comprises 12 A320neo and 93 A321neo aircraft, taking Saudia's Airbus aircraft order backlog to 144 A320neo family aircraft.

The group will receive the first aircraft in the first quarter of 2026.

Speaking at the Future Aviation Forum (FAF) in Riyadh, he stated that the new order comes after the 88 aircraft slated to be received over the next five years.

Al-Omar explained that this initiative is the largest investment in guest experience in the Saudia's history. It is a key component of the group's strategic priorities and marks the beginning of a new era, aligning with the national strategy for the aviation sector.

He highlighted the launch of a new experience in business and hospitality classes by offering innovative products. This project includes new and current aircraft, with the first refurbished aircraft ready by the end of 2025.

Al-Omar noted these initiatives create competition for airlines with different evaluation criteria. He added these investments will positively impact Saudi Vision 2030 goals in tourism, logistics, job creation, and support of local content, which contributes to boosting national economic development.
