Prices of 71 Saudi goods, services decline in April

As many as 71 of the 169 goods and services in Saudi Arabia saw a year-on-year (YoY) decline in prices in April, while 96 others witnessed a price rise, according to data from the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

The prices of local round onions recorded the largest rise, up 91.38% YoY last month, followed by imported round onions, which increased 71.53% YoY.

 

Conversely, local green bell peppers and Indian pomegranates experienced the steepest YoY drops of 31.14% and 20.91%, respectively.

 

In the construction materials category, prices of 21 materials jumped YoY in April, while 17 products declined during the same month.

 

Prices of eight livestock and fodder products rose YoY last month, while five others fell compared to the year-ago period.

 

In the clothing category, prices of seven items increased YoY, while three items decreased in April compared to a year earlier.

 

Prices of three miscellaneous personal goods and services climbed YoY in April, while one fell YoY during the same month.

 

All detergent product prices increased last month, compared to the same month the previous year.

 

In the health services category, prices of two services edged up on a yearly basis in April, while that of the third service fell YoY.

 

Elsewhere, prices of both services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation rose YoY during the same month.

 

The price of one out of the two hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in April, while that of the other service fell YoY.

 

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY in April.
