The official gazette Umm Al-Qura published on Friday the executive regulations of the Electronic Transactions Law, which came into effect from the publication date.

Under the regulations, when preserving electronic records and data, clear and documented rules and procedures should be followed to preserve electronic records, as per the relevant rules and regulations. In addition, the electronic records and data should be maintained in any format as per the law applied by the person who preserved them.

The party responsible for preserving electronic records should perform archiving and backup periodically, in a way that guarantees the rights of those who rely on these records, and in accordance with the requirements of the relevant laws and regulations.
