Saudia orders 100 flying taxis from German Lilium: Report

Saudi Arabian Airlines Co. (Saudia) awarded a large order to Germany-based air taxi developer Lilium Co., Reuters reported, citing sources.

Saudia signed a framework agreement to purchase 100 flying taxis about 18 months ago, the news agency said, indicating that the goal was to convert the deal into a concrete order for vertical take-off electric air taxis.

This order will be one of the major orders for Lilium, which said that it has received 780 confirmed orders and letters of intent so far, including Saudia, the report stated.

The first flight is scheduled to take place at the end of this year, Reuters further noted.
