The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has allocated three sites to establish mining complexes for sand ore and backfill in Riyadh and Asir.
The locations identified by the ministry included the “South Al-Hair” complex in Al-Kharj Governorate, Riyadh, designated for the exploitation of sand ore and backfill, on an area is 15.23 square kilometers, said official spokesman, Jarrah Al-Jarrah.
The ministry also identified sites for mining complexes in Asir, including the “North Al-Shagiga” sand ore complex in Bisha Governorate, on an area of 13.36 square kilometers, in addition to the “East Al-Khaleej” sand ore complex in Bisha Governorate, on an area of 8.54 square kilometers.
Establishing such mining complexes regulates the building materials quarry sector, enhances the governance of the localmining sector, increases its transparency, and boosts investor confidence in it. This also helps achieve sustainability elements for the sector through caring for the environment, occupational health and safety, while prompting local communities to participate in the growth of the mining sector in accordance with Mining Investment Law, Al-Jarrah stated.
