Saudia's signing of the largest global order with Germany's Lilium to purchase up to 100 electric eVTOL jets aims to offer air taxi services in the Kingdom, said Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics.

He said on his official X account that the deal also aims to provide advanced and eco-friendly transportation alternatives that rely on smart and future-oriented transportation solutions.

Further, the transaction seeks to enhance the experience of beneficiaries in the business, exhibition, and tourism sectors, and to serve pilgrims, Al-Jasser said.

He added that it will also enhance the air transport services in the Kingdom, in line with the objectives of the Aviation Strategy and the National Transport And Logistics Strategy.

Saudia and Lilium sealed an agreement on July 18 to purchase 50 confirmed Lilium Jets, with an option to buy an additional 50 later, according to data available with Argaam.
