NCA says impact of technical system disruption on national entities limited

20/07/2024 Argaam

The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) clarified that the impact of the disruption of many technical systems in various vital sectors worldwide on national entities in Saudi Arabia has been limited.

NCA said that these disruptions worldwide resulted from a package of updates launched by CrowdStrike for one of its products early on July 19, which included a technical glitch.

Proactive measures were taken to monitor and follow up on cyber threats and risks, as well as to respond to any cyber incidents if any. Additionally, NCA’s effort aims to localize national capabilities and enhance technical sovereignty in this field.

It pointed out that the cybersecurity controls and standards issued by NCA have enhanced the security and reliability of cyberspace in the Kingdom. The authority continues to monitor the compliance of national entities with these controls and standards.

NCA confirmed that it is continuously monitoring through the National Cybersecurity Services Portal (Haseen) and working in partnership with all national entities to ensure the enhancement of national cybersecurity.
