The Economic Crimes Prosecution charged three expats with food fraud after they provided and stored expired food products of unknown origin, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The investigation revealed that the defendants supplied and stored more than 55 tons of expired chicken meat of unknown origin, changed its packaging, and applied false commercial data with an incorrect expiration date and place of production.

The prosecutors called for severe penalties against the defendants, who were arrested and referred to the Criminal Court, according to the Anti-Commercial Fraud and Commercial Fata Laws.

The Public Prosecution emphasized it would firmly seek deterrent penalties against anyone committing such harmful acts to human health.
