The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources offered four salt ore exploration licenses in the Ras Al-Quraya complex in the Eastern Province, according to spokesman Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah.

The four companies receiving the exploration licenses are Khalid Al-Zahid and Sons Co., Ibrahim Al-Issa and Partner Salt Co., Riyadh Salt Industry Co. Ltd., and Rastan Industry Co, Al-Jarrah said.

He went on to say that the ministry received six applications, five of which were qualified while a single application did not meet the requirements.

The Ras Al-Qarya sabkha complex is a coastal area about 4 kilometers from the sea where salt ore is naturally exposed on the surface and deposited in layers.

Sabkha's raw salt is suitable for industrial use to support the manufacturing and petrochemical industries, as well as the production of high-purity refined table salt and food-grade salt.

The salt is then converted into high-quality industrial salt that is free of impurities and contains approximately 99% sodium chloride, Al-Jarrah added.

According to data available on Argaam, the ministry tendered four salt ore exploration licenses in the Ras Al-Suraya complex in the Eastern Province in March.
