The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture stated that the Kingdom has achieved a self-sufficiency rate in dates at 124%, with annual production exceeding 1.6 million tons.

This came through the expansion of palm cultivation, which covers a wide area of up to 165,000 hectare, the ministry said in a statement.

Riyadh is the largest producer of dates in the Kingdom, contributing 436,000 tons, followed by Qassim with 391,000 tons, which reflects the strength of this sector in these two main regions. Meanwhile, Madinah and the Eastern Region contribute 263,000 and 203,000, respectively.
