MODON launches SAR 521M development projects in Jeddah

Jeddah industrial cities, affiliated with Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), launched a bundle of new development projects worth more than SAR 521 million, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

 

This included laying the foundation stone for the infrastructure development completion project of the first phase in Jeddah’s third industrial city, worth more than SAR 367 million. This is part of MODON’s initiatives in the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP).

 

This is in addition to an industrial and wastewater treatment plant project with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day (m³/day) in the first phase. The project serves more than 1,226 plants and improves the urban landscape in Jeddah’s second industrial city.

 

Jeddah industrial cities will implement the irrigation network in Jeddah’s second industrial city, spanning over 400,000 square meters (sqm) as part of the Green Cities Initiative. It will also launch the ambulance service in Jeddah’s second and third industrial cities to enhance preventive safety.

 

Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, Khalil Salamah, launched a project to implement 24 ready-made plants with an area of ​​350 sqm for each plant in Jeddah’s first industrial city. The project is aimed at meeting the local market’s needs and supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs.

 

Jeddah’s second and third industrial cities have been witnessing significant growth in the number of plants since 2018, by more than 200%.  The volume of industrial investments exceeded SAR 30 billion. The number of direct jobs grew by more than 10,000 jobs, including 1,600 jobs for women.
