The Cabinet approved the Product Safety, and Standards and Quality Laws. According to the decision, any fees stated in these laws will be determined in agreement with the Ministry of Finance and the Non-Oil Revenues Development Center until the issuance of the regulation governing the practices of public bodies and institutions.

As stated in the Official Gazette, a ‘Product Safety and Monitoring Committee" will be established within the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO). This committee will include representatives from relevant government agencies concerned with product safety, as well as one or more representatives from the private sector. The entities represented in the committee will be determined by a decision from the Minister of Commerce, and the ministry will notify each represented entity to appoint their representative. The Federation of Saudi Chambers, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, will appoint one or more private sector representatives to the committee.

The committee will be responsible for coordinating efforts between government agencies and the private sector that are involved in product safety and market monitoring. Its duties will include ensuring close cooperation among the represented entities in the field of product safety, contributing to the development of product safety policies, exchanging information regarding the tasks of entities involved in market safety and monitoring, proposing improvements to regulations, standards, and guidelines, creating new programs in product safety and market monitoring, and announcing unsafe products.
