KSIADC seals 4 deals with design, engineering firms

King Salman International Airport Development Co. (KSIADC), a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), signed strategic partnership contracts with four local and international firms specializing in architecture, engineering, construction, and air traffic management, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The contracts aim to begin a new phase of development for King Salman International Airport (KSIA), making it a hub for tourism, travel, and transport in Riyadh and the region.

Foster + Partners Co. will design the project’s 57-square-kilometer masterplan, including terminals, six runways, and a real estate zone. The design will reflect Riyadh's identity and the Saudi culture, offering a unique travel experience.

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. will provide specialized consulting services for the airport’s detailed masterplan and the design of the new runways.

Meanwhile, Mace Consulting Group will implement the global best practices and innovations throughout the planning and construction stages.

Saudi-based NERA, specializing in technical and operational aviation solutions, will also oversee the airspace design to improve air traffic efficiency using advanced tech. KSIADC’s Acting CEO Marco Mejia said the Riyadh-based airport is set to be a model in aviation, aligning with the Saudi Vision 2030 to make Riyadh a global gateway and a destination for transport, trade, and tourism, boosting Saudi Arabia's status as a global logistics hub.

In November 2022, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched KSIA’s masterplan, aimed at positioning Riyadh as a global gateway and logistics hub, connecting East and West, according to data compiled by Argaam.

KSIA will be among the world's largest of its kind, stretching over 57 square kilometers. It will feature the existing King Khalid terminals, six runways, 12 square kilometers of supporting facilities and residential, entertainment, retail, and logistical spaces.
