Crude oil inventories in the US fell by 3.4 million barrels during the week ended Aug. 23, data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) showed.

 

Gasoline stocks decreased by 1.86 million barrels during the past week, while distillate stocks (including diesel and heating oil) decreased by about 1.4 million barrels.

 

Meanwhile, Brent crude futures for October delivery fell 2.3%, or $1.88, to close at $79.55 a barrel on Aug. 27. WTI crude for October delivery fell by 2.45%, or $1.89, to record $75.53 per barrel.
