Saudi Arabia may bid to host Olympics when 'ready': Esports Chairman

Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation, said the Kingdom is gearing up for hosting more esports, adding, “[Hosting] the Olympics is a logical step...But, when we are ready.”

 

This came during his interview with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the closing ceremony for the first-ever Esports World Cup, held in Riyadh.

 

According to data available to Argaam, the first edition of the Esports World Cup wrapped up on Aug. 25. The eight-week broke some records at several levels this year, hosting over a million guests, while contributing to a more than 29% year-on-year (YoY) hike in Riyadh visitors during the championship.
