Saudi merchandise imports down 5% to SAR 57.7B in June

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports decreased 5% year-on-year (YoY) to almost SAR 57.7 billion in June 2024, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

Meanwhile, merchandise imports declined 22%, or nearly SAR 16.7 billion, month-on-month (MoM), as follows:

Imports of machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment, and their parts accounted for 25%, or SAR 14.3 billion, of the total Saudi imports in June.

 

Vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment came second at 11%.

Saudi Arabia’s imports came mainly from China in June, valued at SAR 12.1 billion, or 21% of the total.

 

The US and the UAE followed with SAR 4.5 billion and SAR 4.02 billion, respectively.

 

The top 10 exporters to the Kingdom accounted for almost 64%, or SAR 36.7 billion, of the total imports in June, as shown below:
