The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority’s (ZATCA) board issued a decision on customs duties.

In a statement, ZATCA announced that the decision, effective October 6, 2024, includes the revocation of customs duties on exports. Additionally, customs duties on imports will be reduced under a new methodology, which entails collecting a fee of 0.15% of the value of imported goods for processing customs declarations.

The new decision will encourage exporters through easing financial burdens, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises and raising the efficiency and quality of Saudi exports.

The move also aims to reduce import costs and enhance importers’ ability to estimate the customs service fee for imports in advance and set a higher ceiling. Moreover, it will ensure that costs do not increase for importers and unify the calculation mechanism across the various land, sea and air ports.

Additionally, the step is essential in enhancing and supporting the objectives of trade facilitation.

ZATCA seeks to offer customs services in accordance with best practices, which will positively impact the logistics services system and support its strategic objectives. It will also enhance the confidence of dealing with importers and exporters and boost transparency.

The authority said it is committed to developing its customs services in line with the objectives of its strategy, which will contribute to transforming the Kingdom into a global logistics hub as part of the Vision 2030 program.
