Hyatt eyes raising hotel capacity in Saudi Arabia to 5,000 keys

Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb met with Hyatt Hotels Corp.’s (Hyatt) board members, in the presence of Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi, Minister of Economy & Planning Faisal Al-Ibrahim, Minister of Transport & Logistics Saleh Al-Jasser, and Deputy Minister of Finance Abdulmohsen Alkhalaf.

 

During the meeting, Al-Khateeb renewed his welcome to the group’s Saudi expansion announcement by building new hotels and raising its local accommodating capacity from 1,700 to 5,000 keys in the coming years, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

He said the move shall further strengthen Saudi Arabia’s tourism infrastructure.

 

During the meeting, the minister also reviewed the robust investment opportunities in the Saudi tourism sector. This is given the ongoing successes witnessed by the sector within the framework of the Saudi Vision 2030.

 

He discussed with Hyatt’s management the establishment of an office covering Saudi Arabia and the African region. He also hailed the group’s plan to establish a training academy in the Kingdom to train Saudi national cadres working in the tourism sector.
