Prices of 114 Saudi commodities, services rise in August

Prices of 114 goods and services in Saudi Arabia increased year-on-year (YoY) in August, while prices of 51 commodities declined and four remained stable, data issued by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Among 92 food products, local medium potato saw the steepest rise, up 44.41% YoY, followed by local round onion with an increase of 42.02%. Indian pomegranate was the biggest decliner, falling 11.56% YoY, while green beans came second with a drop of 10.47% YoY.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 34 construction materials rose, while four decreased YoY. Red sand prices saw the most significant rise of 19.03% YoY, while the 6mm national rebar declined the most, with an annual drop of 3.83%.

 

Prices of most fodder and livestock products increased last month, with 10 logging gains and three decliners YoY.

 

The prices for nine clothing items increased in August, while one edged lower YoY.

 

Out of the four miscellaneous personal services and commodities, three rose in August.

 

Prices of all detergent products increased last month compared to the same month in the previous year.

 

Prices of all health services witnessed an increase YoY in August.

 

Elsewhere, prices of the two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation were up in the same period.

 

The prices of both hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in August.

 

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY during August.
