Saudi Arabia Power Procurement Co. (Principal Buyer) released request for qualification (RFQ) for five new round of renewable energy projects, with a total capacity of 4,500 megawatts.
The projects include the 1,500 MW Dawadmi Wind IPP in Riyadh, the 1,400 MW Najran Solar IPP in Najran, the 600 MW Samtah Solar PV IPP in Jazan, the 600 MW Darab Solar PV IPP in Jazan, and the 400 MW Sufun Solar PV in Hail.

In a statement, the company said the projects are part of the sixth phase of the National Renewable Energy Program overseen by the Ministry of Energy, aiming to increase the share of renewable energy and gas to optimize the energy mix for electricity production.
Renewable energy is expected to constitute nearly 50% of the energy mix for electricity by 2030.
The Principal Buyer is responsible for conducting preliminary studies and purchasing electricity produced from energy projects in Saudi Arabia.
So far, projects under the National Renewable Energy Program have a combined capacity exceeding 19 GW.
