Saudi merchandise imports rise 13% to SAR 75.2B in July

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports increased 13% year-on-year (YoY) to almost SAR 75.2 billion in July 2024, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

Saudi merchandise imports scored a record high during July, according to GASTAT that started recording data in 2017.

Meanwhile, merchandise imports jumped 9%, or SAR 6.1 billion, month-on-month (MoM), as follows:

Imports of machinery, mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, and their parts accounted for 27%, or SAR 20 billion, of the total Saudi imports in July.

 

Vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment came second at 15%.

Saudi Arabia’s imports came mainly from China in July, valued at SAR 19.1 billion, or 25% of the total.

 

The US and the Germany followed with SAR 5.4 billion and SAR 3.8 billion, respectively. The UAE came fourth with SAR 3.6 billion.

 

The top 10 exporters to the Kingdom accounted for almost 62%, or SAR 46.5 billion, of the total imports in June, as shown below:
