The contract covers the construction of a multi-purpose stadium in the sports and entertainment zone of Qiddiya City, with a capacity of 45,000 spectators. US architectural design firm Populous is the project’s consultant.

According to data available on Argaam, QIC's board of directors launched the new main stadium in Qiddiya City in January, to be named after Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The new stadium is set to be one of the most prominent stadiums in the world and will be equipped with unprecedented technologies and capabilities, making it multi-purpose and capable of hosting the largest sporting, entertainment, and cultural events in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia submitted a bid in July to host the 2034 World Cup, and the bid included Qiddiya's Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium.
