Chinese food delivery app Keeta will begin operations in Riyadh tomorrow, Oct. 9, after officially securing its license, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Saleh Al-Zuwayed, spokesperson for the Transport General Authority (TGA).
According to data available to Argaam, food delivery orders in Saudi Arabia exceeded 200 million last year. Riyadh accounted for the largest share, followed by Jeddah, then other cities.
In January, TGA issued six executive decisions for the delivery sector, the first phase took effect on April 2, 2024. These decisions include obligating non-Saudi workers on delivery apps to join a licensed light transport company across four provinces. The decisions also include limiting freelance work to Saudis, issuing controls on the use of motorcycles for order delivery in coordination with the General Department of Traffic, and approving a uniform for drivers.
