Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi said the Consumer Protection Law is in its final stages and will address many current consumer challenges.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 19th Saudi Business Center in Al-Baha, he noted that the ministry reviewed and developed over 110 legislations, including the Corporate Law, E-commerce Law, Commercial Franchise Law, and their executive regulations.

Al-Qasabi added that market rules were enhanced to protect consumers, monitor prices, and combat fraud and concealment.

The ministry also launched a consumer complaints center, a recall center, and the "Imtithal" inspection system.

He stated that 13 government bodies are collaborating to tackle commercial concealment, with an AI-powered electronic system guiding inspection teams in identifying suspected cases.

Al-Qasabi revealed that e-commerce accounted for 8% of total trade in Saudi Arabia in 2022, with expected revenues reaching SAR 260 billion by 2025.

The minister also mentioned that 50 million e-commerce shipments entered the Kingdom in 2023, while 190 million delivery orders were fulfilled via apps in 2022.
