The Cabinet approved amending Article 9 of the Saudi Building Code Application Law, issued by Royal Decree No. (M/43) dated Jan. 24, 2017, Umm Al-Qura newspaper reported.
Under the amendment, the Article 9 reads: "A building may not be occupied except by an occupancy certificate according to the occupancy classification set forth in the code, and in accordance with the procedures and timeframes set by the regulations.
The occupancy certificate is a prerequisite for the full launch of electricity."
