Prices of 106 Saudi commodities, services rise in September

Average prices of 106 goods and services in Saudi Arabia turned higher year-on-year (YoY) in September, while prices of 59 commodities declined and four remained stable, out of 169 in total distributed among 10 categories, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Among 92 food products, Imported round onions saw the steepest rise in September, up 35.22% year-on-year (YoY), followed by local round onions with a 30.81% YoY hike.

 

Meanwhile, Egyptian navel orange was the biggest decliner, falling 18.58% YoY. Almarai local cheese cups came second with a YoY drop of 11.57% for the same month.

 

Elsewhere, prices of 35 construction materials rose on an annual basis last month, while three others decreased YoY. Red sand prices soared the most by 18.85% YoY.

 

Prices of most fodder and livestock products inched up in September. Eight items logged annual price gains while those of five others slumped YoY during the same month.

 

In the clothing category, prices of six items increased YoY in September, while four retreated YoY.

 

Out of the four miscellaneous personal services and commodities, three rose YoY in September, with one down YoY.

 

Prices of three out of four detergent products advanced last month, compared to the same month in the previous year. However, one item saw a YoY price slump for the same month.

 

Prices of two out of three health services witnessed a YoY jump in September, while the remaining one saw a YoY price pullback.

 

Elsewhere, prices of the two services under the maintenance & repair of personal means of transportation were up YoY in the same month.

 

Prices of both hotel and furnished apartment services grew on an annual basis in September.

 

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY during September.
