Principal Buyer unveils shortlisted bidders for Round 5 Solar Projects

Saudi Power Procurement Co. (Principal Buyer) announced shortlisted bidders for Round 5 Solar Projects, as part of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), supervised by the Ministry of Energy.
 

In a statement today, Oct. 21, the company said each winner will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Principal Buyer on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis.

On Feb. 8, 2024, the Principal Buyer issued the request for proposal (RFP) for 3,700 MW projects, including the [2000] MWac Al Sadawi Solar PV IPP, the [1000] MWac Al Masa’a Solar PV IPP, the [400] MWac Al Henakiyah 2 Solar PV IPP, and the [300] MWac Rabigh 2 Solar PV IPP.
 

In August, the company received six bids for each project, which were evaluated to ensure commitment to the technical and commercial requirements.
 

SPPC is responsible for the predevelopment, tendering, and subsequently procuring the energy from the projects. To date, SPPC has awarded over 19 GW of renewable energy capacity under NREP.
