On Nov. 5, Americans will likely choose between two main candidates: Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris. Opinion polls showed that the two are deadlocked for having the support of 45% (more or less by a minor margin) of voters.
This means that the votes that could go to other competitors are very limited and are less than approximately 10%.
The US’s 60th election is witnessing the candidacy of Trump and Harris, along with two competitors from the Green Party of the United States (GPUS) and the Libertarian Party (LP), in addition to an independent.

In 2020, there were about 160 million registered voters to vote in the US presidential elections.
Estimates suggest that
The number of registered voters is projected to jump to 210 million in 2024, from about 160 million in 2020, a significant increase over the past three decades, but in line with the trend seen in recent years of rising turnout.
Participation rates rose from around 12% in the 1789 election to a peak period from 1840 to 1900, when they ranged between 70% and 80%. Then, they declined significantly, before reaching 60% in 2016 and 66% in 2020.
