MAWANI says container handling reaches 632,400 TEUs in October

Saudi ports reported a 14.19% drop in cargo throughput tonnage to 632,370 tons in October, compared to 736,950 tons in the same period a year ago.
 

In a statement, the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said that inbound containers rose 10% to 248,220 in October, from 226,510 in the prior-year period. The number of outbound containers also increased 14% to 254,830 last month, compared to 223,430 in October 2023.
 

The general cargo reached 913,640 tons in October, while dry and liquid bulk cargo reached 4.36 million and 15.12 million tons, respectively. Ports received 654,710 livestock heads for the same month, down 17.3% compared to 791,680 in the same month of 2023.
 

Handled tonnages grew 8.26% year-on-year (YoY) to 27.01 million TEUs.
