Knowledge Economic City Co. is developing hotel, residential and commercial projects worth a total of SAR 10 billion, which is expected to have a positive impact on its financial results and its shareholders over the coming period, said CEO Mohammed Al-Mubarak.
These projects include the Islamic World Avenue project at a cost of about SAR 4 billion for the first phase only, as the project includes 5,140 hotel rooms and 840 residential units. This is in addition to the City Gate project, which will be opened by the end of this year, the City Forum project at a cost of SAR 2 billion for its first phase, and Al Alia project at a cost of SAR 3 billion, said the top executive, in an interview with Asharq Business during Cityscape Global exhibition in Riyadh.
“The market in Madinah is hungry for quality and essential projects in all sectors.
We have an ambitious plan for larger projects over the next few years in the hotel, residential, commercial and office sectors,” said Al-Mubarak.
The CEO also pointed out that real estate projects require huge capital investments, which has resulted in some loss in the company’s financial statements. “However, the stage we are going through now is the stage of reaping the fruits,” he said.
Knowledge EC reported a net loss of SAR 47.6 million for the first nine months of 2024, compared to a loss of SAR 23.9 million a year earlier. The company narrowed losses to SAR 8.9 million in Q3 2024, from SAR 13.3 million in Q3 2023, on higher sales, according to data available to Argaam.
