Oil tanks
US crude oil stockpiles rose more than expected last week, while gasoline and distillate inventories posted surprise drawdowns.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) said today, Nov. 14, that crude inventories rose by 2.1 million barrels in the week ended Nov. 8 to 429.7 million barrels, compared with analysts’ expectations in a Wall Street Journal poll for a 1.1 million-barrel rise.
Meanwhile, gasoline stocks fell by 4.4 million barrels in the week to 206.9 million barrels, compared with forecasts for a 1.3 million-barrel build.
Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 1.4 million barrels, versus expectations for a 1.3 million-barrel rise.
