Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries reached $143.9 billion in September, up by $1.1 billion month-on-month (MoM), new data released by the US Treasury showed.
The Kingdom's holdings of US Treasuries in September were the highest in nearly four and half years.
Accordingly, Saudi Arabia maintained its 17th place among the largest holders of US Treasuries for the month.
Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $113.4 billion, representing 79% of the total, with short-term bonds amounting to $30.5 billion (21%).
Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds in September, with about $1.12 trillion, followed by China with $772 billion, as the following table shows:
