Saudi merchandise imports rise 15% to SAR 69.9B in September

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports increased 15% year-on-year (YoY) in September to SAR 69.9 billion, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

Meanwhile, merchandise imports rose 1%, or nearly SAR 436.2 million, month-on-month (MoM), as follows:

Imports of machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, and their parts accounted for 27%, or SAR 19.2 billion, of the total Saudi imports in September.

 

Vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment came in second at 16%.

Saudi Arabia’s imports came mainly from China in September, valued at SAR 18 billion, or 26% of the total. The US followed with SAR 5.4 billion.

 

The top 10 exporters to Saudi Arabia accounted for 63%, or SAR 44.1 billion, of the total imports in September, as shown below:
