The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources allocated five sites for the establishment of mining activity complexes in Taif governorate, Makkah Region, and Khamis Mushait governorate, Aseer Region, according to a statement reported by the state-run SPA.
The ministry clarified that four complexes are located in Taif governorate: North Nimran Mining Complex No. 1, covering an area of 347 square kilometers; North Nimran Mining Complex No. 2, covering an area of 277 square kilometers; South Nimran Mining Complex, covering an area of 512 square kilometers; and East Nimran Mining Complex, covering an area of 1,576 square kilometers.
In Khamis Mushait, one site was allocated for the South Wadi Ya’ra Mining Complex, spanning an area of 1,508 square kilometers.
The ministry stated that allocating sites for mining complexes is a significant step to attract investments in the mining sector and to bring in specialized mining companies locally and globally. This also plays an important role in developing mining complexes and safeguarding them from unauthorized activities, as stipulated in the Mining Investment Law and its regulations.
This initiative is part of its effort to govern the mining sector, enhance its transparency, and attract quality investments to the sector. It also aims to support the development of local communities surrounding mining projects.
The ministry seeks to protect and maximize the value of the mining sector, positioning it as the third pillar of the national industry. It also works to utilize the Kingdom’s mineral resources, which are distributed across more than 5,300 sites and valued at nearly SAR 9.4 trillion.
