Orange Line Metro train
Riyadh Metro Line 3 (Orange Line) will start operations today, Jan. 5.
It extends from Jeddah Road in the west to the second eastern ring road adjacent to the Khashm Al-Aan area in the east with a total length of 41 km.
This marks the completion of the phased operation of the six lines of the Riyadh Metro network, according to the plan announced when the project was inaugurated by King Salman on Nov. 27, 2024.
Three lines began operations on Dec. 1, 2024 — Blue Line (Line 1): Olaya Street to Batha; Yellow Line (Line 4): King Khalid International Airport Axis; and Purple Line (Line 6): Abdulrahman Bin Awf and Sheikh Hasan Bin Hussain Roads Axis.
Red Line (Line 2): King Abdullah Road and Green Line (Line 5): King Abdulaziz Road started running on Dec. 15, 2024.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated the Riyadh Metro project at the end of November 2024. The metro serves as the backbone of the public transportation network in Riyadh and is a key component of the city’s transportation infrastructure.
Riyadh Metro, the largest of its kind built entirely in a single phase, spans 176 km with 85 stations. It integrates with the Riyadh Bus project, which was already launched, covering a total of 1,900 km.
