Maharah Human Resources Co. received a new directive from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) outlining new quotas for domestic workers.
The circular specifies that companies must maintain a minimum percentage of domestic workers relative to their overall workforce.
In a statement to Tadawul, Maharah pointed out that the percentage will vary based on the total number of domestic workers employed. For companies with fewer than 3,000 domestic workers, the quota is set at 30%.
This decreases to 20% for those with between 3,000 and 10,000 workers, and 10% for companies with 10,000 to 15,000 domestic workers. Companies with more than 15,000 domestic workers are exempt from the quota.
The new regulations is effective as of Jan. 5.
The statement noted that since the total number of domestic workers at Maharah exceeds 15,000, the company is currently not required to comply with any quota percentage.
Maharah expects the decision to have impact on the company’s long-term business. It will alleviate the company’s obligation to recruit a specific percentage of the total workforce and reduce recruitment costs for household resources to ensure compliance with previous percentages, as well as gives the company the ability to increase the workforce in the corporate sector to meet the growing demand without any constraints.
