Prices of 110 Saudi commodities, services rise in December 2024

Average prices of 110 goods and services in Saudi Arabia turned higher year-on-year (YoY) in December, while prices of 56 commodities declined and three remained stable, out of 169 in total distributed among 10 categories, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

Among 92 food products, local round onions saw the steepest rise in December, up 42.49% year-on-year (YoY), followed by American cardamom with a 37.59% YoY hike.

Meanwhile, Almarai local cheese cups was the biggest decliner, falling 13.41% YoY. Local cucumber came second with a YoY drop of 10.39% for the same month.

Elsewhere, prices of 36 construction materials rose on an annual basis last month, while two others decreased YoY.

Prices of eight feed and livestock types rose in December 2024, while five declined YoY.

In the clothing category, prices of seven items increased YoY in December, while three others retreated YoY.

Prices of three miscellaneous personal services and commodities prices went up while one went down YoY in December.

Prices of three out of four detergent products advanced last month, compared to the same month in the previous year. However, one item saw a YoY price slump for the same month.

Prices of one out of three health services witnessed a YoY jump in December, while the remaining two saw a YoY price pullback.

Elsewhere, prices of the one-out-of-two services under the maintenance & repair of personal means of transportation went up YoY in the same month. The other service under the same category retreated YoY in December.

For hotels and furnished apartments, one service price increased, while another decreased in December.

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY during December.
