Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan said that the Middle East and Africa collectively hold approximately 48% of global oil reserves and are rich in minerals.

He emphasized that leveraging and combining these resources with the region’s young workforce could lead to extraordinary achievements.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Al-Jadaan highlighted that, unlike most other regions, the Middle East is young, with the majority of its population being proficient in technology and ready to drive a transformative change.

He stressed the need to focus on developing human capital and enhancing capabilities. The minister pointed out a recent survey of companies in the Middle East and North Africa, which reported a skills mismatch, adding unemployment prevails despite companies struggling to find skillful candidates.

Despite some challenges, the minister believed the region is on the right track in 2025. Achieving regional stability and utilizing technology to enhance competitiveness will unfold a new era for the region, Al-Jadaan said.
